Memorial Day – I Mean Labor Day

“Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.”

– James Bryce

I am hilarious. I literally just realized, after making this post two hours ago, that today is Labor Day and I just mistakenly made a Memorial Day post. That is just so perfect, and such proof of how daft I can be. You know what I think it is? Over the weekend I was deeply moved by some of the events surrounding Sen. John McCain being laid to rest, and I was so touched that my heart was thinking about so many men and women, like McCain, who have given their lives for this county. So when today rolled around I think my heart just automatically went in the direction of celebrating those who gave the highest sacrifice. So now I know that today is Labor Day, and I now remember that we celebrate how our great country has been built by those who work so hard in such thankless, hard jobs. But I’m still thinking about those we celebrate on Memorial Day. Hope your day off is a good one.
