Easter Pride

Today is the morning after my faith family celebrated Easter. It was such a great time together, celebrating the reality of Jesus’ resurrection, and hosting so many new faces who came to celebrate with us. I just have to say this morning that I was so proud of our faith family for the way they invited friends, neighbors and family to celebrate with us, and for the way they served others. I looked around me and I could both see and feel the love being shared in community yesterday. I’m so proud of Faith Community Church.

But this weekend I also found myself incredibly proud of missions that Faith Community Church helped to launch. I’m proud of the way our church community rallied around Ben Hartell, and Westside Community Church to help them try to renew and relaunch their church. That plan didn’t go the way we thought it would, because the mission of Westside has come to an end. But what I’m proud of is the fact that God’s mission work through Ben isn’t done. He now worships with our church, has a good new job, and is looking to simply re-boot life with a view to how God wants to use him in the next season of his life. Who knows – maybe another church plant. I’m also proud of Rob Patterson and Redeemer Anglican Church. We met with their church for a Good Friday service, and I was touched by the many people I met from his church. Redeemer is healthy, vibrant, and an important expression of God’s heart in our city. Finally I’m proud of Nick Hart, who left Faith Community Church to start the Flow Loves You Foundation for youth in Santa Cruz. He and his family came to our house for Easter dinner, and to hear the stories of how God is using that ministry just makes me smile. Yeah, I’m proud today. I’m proud of what God is doing in and through the church where I worship and serve. #sothankful
