The Easter Message

Does anyone want to guess what my Easter morning message is going to be about this coming Sunday? There are many Sunday’s when part of my joy as a pastor is the opportunities I’m given to surprise people with a fresh new insight or a surprising discovery from God’s word. Easter doesn’t hold any new surprises or discoveries from the bible – it’s the same story every Easter. Jesus rose from the grave after He’d suffered and died on a cross. But even though it’s the same story, I guess what makes our holy days (Christmas and Easter) amazing isn’t so much that they tell us shiny new things we didn’t know – it’s that they remind us of spectacular things we have forgotten. So this week, as I prepare to declare the good news that Jesus died and rose again, I want to be reminded of the spectacular things I’ve known but have forgotten.
