When I walk through Costco during this Christmas season, doing my best to only look at the things I really need to purchase, I see the 70 inch big screen TVs. I look at those TV’s and I wonder, “Lewis are you really a man if your TV is only 40 inches? Real men have TV’s bigger than 46 inches! Real men let go of small-man ways – as in 40 inch TV’s – and they move into real man territory – as in 84 inches.” It’s very easy to get wrapped up in our Western religion of consumption where like Priests waving sacred incense we wave sacred credit cards as our most ecstatic expression of worship during the Christmas season.
For that reason I love this line from The Grinch that stole Christmas.
