We Aren’t Going And We Aren’t Making Disciples

“He who converts his neighbor has preformed the most practical Christian-political act of all.” ~ C.S. Lewis

As I survey the landscape around me, we who believe and have been given the most precious gift of abundant life, are quite sadly not reaching out to our neighbors. How many of us can say that we have been present when someone transferred trust away from themselves in pursuit of a life, and instead transferred their trust onto Jesus Christ for that life? I’m going to guess that 100% of you who are reading this blog have not shared your faith or led someone to become a disciple of Jesus in the last six months. Even more scary is this guess – probably somewhere close to 95% of you have not yet led someone to become a disciple of Jesus in your entire life thus far.

This very much disturbs me, and if you read what I’ve just written, and it accurately describes you but you find yourself simply shrugging your shoulders without being somewhat disturbed – then I’m even more disturbed. What’s gone wrong with the people of God in North America? Why are we so discontent about practically everything in our consumer-driven lives, and yet so content about this disciple-making thing that Jesus told us really mattered? I want to explore this for a while . . .
