God Has What It Takes

The fourth truth God taught me during my extended sabbath comes from the book of Job. After an intimate confrontation with God Job arrived at this conclusion; “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2  When we’re tired and weary it becomes patently obvious we are not Superman or Superwoman. We aren’t faster than an airplane, more powerful than a locomotive or impervious to bullets. The very fact that we need renewal, and the very process of renewal reveals the serious limits of our skills and talents. But our security doesn’t rest in our power to take care of business or kick some tail and take some names. When we slow down and still our hearts we remember that our security rests in the God who can do all things. We end up in a place where we can join with Job and say of God, “I know that no plan of yours can be thwarted.” You and I don’t have to have what it takes in order to be secure.

Funny you shd mention this as Warner Bros is making big push to get Christians out to see Superman citing some parallels that are ridiculous. Christ is too real and our situations too for consumer comic book reality. Great reflection as always.
